Delicious Homemade Kheer Recipe

 





Ingredients:

  • 1 liter full-cream milk
  • ¼ cup basmati rice (soaked for 30 minutes)
  • ¼ cup sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 3-4 green cardamom pods (crushed)
  • 10-12 almonds (chopped)
  • 10-12 cashews (chopped)
  • 8-10 raisins
  • 1 pinch saffron strands (optional)
  • 1 tsp ghee (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 1 tsp rose water (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Boil the milk – In a heavy-bottomed pan, bring the milk to a boil on medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  2. Add rice – Drain the soaked rice and add it to the boiling milk. Stir well.
  3. Cook on low heat – Let it simmer for 30-40 minutes, stirring frequently to avoid sticking. The rice should become soft, and the kheer should thicken.
  4. Add sugar and flavors – Stir in sugar, crushed cardamom, saffron, and nuts. Mix well and cook for another 5 minutes.
  5. Finish and serve – Turn off the heat, add rose water (if using), and let it cool slightly. Garnish with more nuts before serving.
