Delicious Paneer Tikka: A Perfectly Grilled Indian Delight
Ingredients:
For the Marinade:
- 200g paneer (cubed)
- 1/2 cup thick yogurt
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tbsp cumin powder
- 1 tbsp coriander powder
- 1 tbsp kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves)
- Salt to taste
- 1-2 tbsp rice flour (for crispiness)
- 1 tbsp oil or melted butter
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
For Grilling/Serving:
- 1 tbsp oil (for grilling)
- 1 onion, thinly sliced (for garnish)
- 1 bell pepper (optional, for garnish)
- Lemon wedges
- Chaat masala (optional for garnish)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Marinade:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the thick yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, cumin powder, coriander powder, kasuri methi, salt, and rice flour.
- Mix well until everything is evenly combined.
2. Marinate the Paneer:
- Cut the paneer into cubes (about 1.5-inch cubes) and add them to the marinade.
- Gently coat each piece of paneer with the marinade.
- Cover the bowl and let the paneer marinate for at least 30 minutes to an hour (you can refrigerate it for longer for more flavor).
3. Preheat Grill or Pan:
- If you're grilling, preheat your oven or grill to about 200°C (392°F).
- Alternatively, you can make it in a grill pan or regular frying pan. Heat the pan with a little oil on medium heat.
4. Skewer the Paneer (Optional):
- If using a grill, you can skewer the marinated paneer.
- If you're cooking it on a pan, you can directly place the paneer cubes onto the hot pan.
5. Grill the Paneer:
- Lightly brush the paneer cubes with oil or melted butter before grilling.
- Grill the paneer for about 12-15 minutes (turning occasionally) until the paneer is slightly charred on the edges and cooked through. If using a pan, cook until golden brown and slightly crispy on the edges.
6. Garnish and Serve:
- Once cooked, garnish the paneer with some freshly chopped cilantro (optional).
- Serve hot, topped with a sprinkle of chaat masala (optional), and alongside lemon wedges and sliced onions and bell peppers.
