Sweet made with carrot - A Classic Indian Dessert
Sweet made with carrot is a rich and flavorful Indian dessert made with grated carrots, milk, sugar, and ghee. This traditional winter delicacy is slow-cooked to perfection, giving it a creamy texture and irresistible taste.
4 cups grated carrots (about 5-6 medium-sized carrots)
2 cups full-cream milk
½ cup sugar (adjust to taste)
¼ cup ghee (clarified butter)
½ teaspoon cardamom powder
2 tablespoons chopped nuts (almonds, cashews, pistachios)
2 tablespoons raisins (optional)
Instructions:
Cook the Carrots – In a heavy-bottomed pan, add grated carrots and milk. Cook on medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the milk reduces and thickens (about 20-25 minutes).
Add Sugar & Ghee – Stir in the sugar and cook for another 5-7 minutes until it dissolves completely. Add ghee and mix well, cooking for another 5 minutes until the halwa starts leaving the sides of the pan.
Enhance the Flavor – Add cardamom powder, chopped nuts, and raisins. Mix well and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
Serve & Enjoy – Garnish with more nuts and serve warm or chilled.
